+ How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
There’s not a “one size fits all” for orthodontic treatment. Depending on the scope, severity, length, and appliance of your treatment, fees may range.
Our orthodontic office offers low down and monthly payments to help our community achieve the smile of their dreams.
To get more information on the anticipated fee of your treatment, talk to our treatment coordinator at your free consultation.
+ When is the best age to start orthodontic treatment?
According to The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), it is recommended that children get looked at by an orthodontist no later than age 7. Although it is unlikely that your child will begin treatment that young, this gives our orthodontist time to map a course of treatment for best results. Early treatment helps our orthodontist guide jaw growth and catch problems early.
+ How long does orthodontic treatment last?
On average, orthodontic treatment lasts around 22 months, but this timeline isn’t guaranteed. Depending on the severity of your case and the orthodontic appliance used, treatment could go longer or be shorter than 22 months. Talk to your orthodontist at your consultation to get an approximate timeline of treatment.
+ How many treatment options do I have to choose from?
At Poidmore Orthodontics we offer three different high-tech treatment options for you to choose from! Our treatment options include traditional metal braces, ceramic braces and Invisalign. There are different benefits to each option. To learn more, visit our treatments page.
+ How often do I need to come in for check-ups?
On average, once you begin treatment, you will need to come in about every six to ten weeks. Coming in for a check-up allows our orthodontist to make changes and adjustments in order to keep your treatment on track.
+ My wire came loose. What do I do?
Fortunately, a loose wire can be fixed at home until you are able to see your orthodontist to fix it. Simply try poking the wire back in place with the tip of an eraser. If it is still uncomfortable, place orthodontic wax over it and call the office to make an appointment to fix the issue.
+ Will braces interfere with playing sports or instruments?
Absolutely not! You will be able to go through your normal routine with little adjustment. It is recommended that you wear a mouth guard while playing sports in order to prevent any injuries.
+ Can I get braces as an adult?
Yes! There is no age limit to receiving orthodontic treatment. According to The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), about 20% of orthodontic patients are adults. Most adult patients choose Invisalign, but traditional metal and ceramic braces are great options as well!
